Could you help someone really change their life? Pact is working with people in prison and the community with the most challenging and complex needs. We are helping people who are currently unable to access mainstream provision and require one to one support to increase their social inclusion. You will find volunteering rewarding, enjoyable, and there is so much that you will learn. Above all you will be helping to change other people’s lives for the better. Aim: Our service is designed to provide support to offenders through mentoring to encourage full integration and to promote social inclusion. Duties: To be led by each individual service users needs, but includes: • To build up a relationship • To establish and maintain appropriate boundaries to the mentoring relationship • To acknowledge positive qualities and skills • To spend time with/share activities with service users • To be consistent, reliable and dependable • To work within a spirit of non-discrimination • To respect confidentiality according to Pact policies • To keep in touch with your co-ordinator • To carry out admin tasks (Volunteer Agreement, Contact Records and Expense Forms) • To attend volunteer support meetings Time Commitment: minimum of 1 ½ - 2 hours per week (based on 1 mentee) for 6 months (minimum time) Training: An initial two day foundation training is provided by Pact and ongoing relevant/refresher training will be provided during support meetings. Expenses: Reasonable travel costs (on public transport) or mileage will be reimbursed, including travel to attend training sessions.
