Purpose of Post:To assist in running an effective employment, training and mentoring resource for Asylum Seekers and Refugees at SRS. Principle Duties and Responsibilities: 1. To assist in running an effective employment, training and mentoring resource by: • Helping to ensure the smooth running and development of SRS Job Club and Ways Into Work project. • Helping to develop and co-ordinate the service to SRS clients in relation to employment and training issues. • Working closely with other volunteers, including attending volunteer meetings as appropriate. 2. To enhance the access to employment and training opportunities by: • Raising the awareness of training opportunities with local training providers. • Distributing information about further and higher learning opportunities with local and national education providers. 3. To support individual Asylum Seekers and Refugees on their path to training and employment by: • Assisting with job search, application forms, college enrolment, CV writing and further advice and guidance. • Developing clients’ IT skills to enable them to job search online. • Developing and maintaining a support structure for each client (for example through personal Action Plans) and tracking the progress of each client. 4. To ensure that this service is an integral part of SRS’ work by: • Referring non job related issues to the Drop-in Advisors or the Family Worker. • Promoting other SRS activities such as the Sewing Classes, Spoken English Classes, Employment Skills Programme and Life in the UK classes with the Job Club Clients.
