Age UK Berkshire are seeking a new Chair to lead a skilled Trustee board for our countywide charity as current Chair is moving out of area. The organisation is undergoing a period of change following the appointment of a new Chief Executive in June 2017, and needs a strong strategic Chair to lead it into the next phase of its development. The Chair will contribute well-informed views, constructively challenge, and actively deliver best practice. We expect management skills at a senior level, an understanding of the needs of older people in Berkshire, knowledge of strategy and great communication skills. *The position of Chair of Trustees is voluntary and unpaid. Age UK Berkshire (AUKB) has around 200 volunteers assisting with service provision and administration support alongside the employee team. *Board members are expected to attend around 5-6 meetings a year, which last 2-3 hours and are currently held in the afternoons. *In addition, Trustees act as advisors to staff leads on specific projects related to their areas of special expertise and represent our charity at events and meetings. *Induction into the organisation and training about Age UK and Age UK Berkshire as well as about the role of Chair are provided. Travel costs are reimbursed. *Trustees are required to confirm their eligibility to be a Director under UK Charity and Company law. Directors are elected by the Membership at the Annual General Meeting (usually November-time) and can be co-opted onto the Board while awaiting election. If you are interested in this role, please send your CV and a 1-2 page statement to email@example.com setting out your relevant skills and experience for the role. If you have any questions or would like to discuss the role in more detail please contact Fiona Price, Chief Executive. Process: After applications have been reviewed, shortlisted candidates will be invited for informal interview with the current Chair and Chief Executive. If successful, a recommendation to join the Board will be made.
